Want To Foster a Dog?

Are you interested in becoming a dog foster? As a foster-based rescue, our fosters play a very important role in our rescue efforts. Fosters care for the needs of the dog they are fostering until the dog is placed in a permanent home. Let us know if you are interested in being a volunteer dog foster by completing our online Volunteer Information Form.

What Are Fosters Responsible For?

As a dog foster, you are responsible for providing day-to-day care for the dog you are fostering, including:
  • Food
  • Shelter
  • Exercise
  • Companionship
  • Giving of medications (if necessary)
  • Transport of the dog to vet appointments
  • Any other related care needs

Happy Tails Dog Rescue will provide the necessary vet care and grooming for the fostered dog, this includes covering all expenses for veterinary care, medications, and other necessary treatments. Happy Tails is also responsible for marketing the dog and facilitating the adoption process in an attempt to find the dog a permanent home as quickly as possible.

Why Being a Dog Foster Is the Best Thing in the World!

Do you want to make the world a better place? If so, consider becoming a foster parent! Fostering means taking in a dog, or any other homeless pet, with the goal of nurturing them for a time until they can be adopted into a permanent home with a family who'll love them forever. Fostering is a crucial part of the animal rescue process. You will find that the act of fostering a dog is an amazing experience for both you and the animal you are fostering.

Omar Felix for Outstanding Service as a Volunteer Dog Foster

Omar Felix has been volunteering with Happy Tails Dog Rescue since the organization started in 2010. He is one of our valued dog fosters and has fostered over 10 of our rescued dogs. He does an outstanding job caring for and loving these neglected dogs during their transition to forever homes. In addition to fostering, Omar actively markets the dogs he fosters which helps increase the chances these dogs have of getting adopted. Volunteer dog fosters play a key role in the rescue process. Omar is an example of what it takes to be an outstanding foster parent. Happy Tails Dog Rescue extends special recognition to you Omar for all of your hard work and dedication to our cause!
