Lost Your Dog?

When your beloved dog goes missing it is a devesting experience. For this reason, we put this page together to help you know what to do next and how to quickly get the word out about your missing pet.

DO THESE 5 STEPS IMMEDIATELY!!:

  1. Send us a text at 201-892-3959 with information on your missing dog (i.e., photo, name, location, and time your dog went missing), and we will immediately post a "lost pet alert" on our rescue's Facebook page. Be sure to post a "lost pet alert" on all of your social media outlets as well!
  2. Look throughout your neighborhood. Don't give up looking. Most missing pets are found in the neighborhood they went missing. Be sure to check under porches and in areas your dog might seek shelter.
  3. Post flyers in the area your dog went missing.
  4. Contact local shelters including all Animal Control facilities. For a quick listing of South Florida rescues and shelters see our Helpful Resources page.
  5. Notify Lost Pet Alert Services see a listing of Pet Alert Services below.

Precautions To Take

Moving forward, there are a few things you can do to increase the chances that your dog will find his or her way back home if ever lost again. Some suggested precautions to take are:

  • Microchip your dog and be sure to keep their microchip information updated.
  • Put a tag on your dog's collar with your contact number in case ever lost.
  • Consider purchasing a GPS dog tracker.
  • Be sure gates, doors, and any small holes in the yard are shut and covered so they can't escape.
